
Our Story
Dave Cava sold his MSP in 2019 and founded PeopleSharp in 2021. Dave’s MSP grew to $10M in 11 years, which presented its’ challenges! There was continual rapid growth, but at times profits were stagnant, and personnel was a constant pain point.

​In 2016, Dave set out to figure out what highly profitable, rapid growth MSPs were doing differently. What really stood out was the way they staffed their companies. All the MSPs he looked at had gotten owners and managers out of the early stages of the recruiting process. They used aptitude testing and focused on finding culture fits. They had career roadmaps and structured mentoring systems. This led to many higher-level positions being filled through internal promotion over time, and to greater employee retention.

​As Dave puts it now, “We were hiring to plug the dam, and they were hiring to build armies.”

​When Dave emulated what he’d learned in his own MSP the results were immediate. He systematized the recruiting process and handed it off. Service Desk performance improved while the average salary dropped 17% in one year. The time it took to fill positions dropped by 50%. After a while, internal promotion rates began to rise steadily, and so did company profits.

​After selling his MSP, Dave was eager to bring what he’d learned to the MSP masses. In 2021, he recruited his daughter, who had been helping him sift resumes since she was an adolescent, and together they re-created and modernized the recruiting process that had been so effective in his MSP. As the practice has grown, additional team members have come aboard. We didn’t look for experienced recruiters. We looked for sharp, accomplished, personable people who liked helping others.
